With the vast array of fire extinguisher cabinets to choose from in today's market, it is essential to choose a model that meets your needs and matches the design and decor of your building. One of the key elements when deciding to purchase a fire extinguisher cabinet, is how you will mount the cabinet.
Most fire extinguisher cabinets come in one of three mounting types. The mounting type is just how it sounds, it is a term used to describe the way that you will mount your fire extinguisher cabinet onto a wall.
The three most common ways to mount a fire extinguisher cabinet are:
- Surface mounted
Now let's take a look at the first option, surface mounted:
Surface mounted – A surface mounted fire extinguisher cabinet mounts directly onto a particular surface. This means that a portion of the wall or surface that the cabinet is being mounted to doesn't have to be cut out so that the cabinet can be placed inside the wall, or portion of the wall. The way that a surface mounted fire extinction cabinet is usually attached to the wall is by bolts.
Often times, depending on the particular need and the construction of the building surface, mounted units are your only option. However these cabinets can sometimes not meet certain safety requirements because of the distance in which fire extinguisher cabinet protrudes from the wall. In these instances, a semi-recessed or recessed fire extinguisher cabinet will be needed.
